Description:

The ATHA onsite training on the Management of Humanitarian Assistance takes place twice each calendar year, at the Sida Partnership Forum, Härnösand, Sweden. Consisting of a three-day Core Training followed by a complementary two-day Specialized Training on International Humanitarian Law, it is recommended that organizations and interested participants consider them as a training package lasting five days.

Course objective
The objective of the ATHA Core Training is to provide professionals working in organizations involved in humanitarian assistance and other relevant transitional or fragile contexts with a substantial and coherent training introducing core aspects and critical perspectives related to the effective planning and provision of assistance in humanitarian emergencies.

The training aims at building the capacity of participants to effectively address the various challenges to which their organizations are increasingly exposed to in complex emergencies. This involves the introduction and application of strategic tools and approaches critical to enhancing their ability to operate and perform in difficult environments including in terms of analysis, planning, communication, and negotiation of access in support of the organization’s mission to protect civilians in crises.
