The sole purpose of the Foundation is the direct support of research and scholarship at universities and non-profit research institutions, primarily in Germany, with special emphasis on the support of young academics. The support of international cooperation is also one of the aims of the Foundation. These aims are reached through the support of specific projects which can be completed in a limited and predictable period of time in areas which have been selected by the Foundation.
January 2004 - present
This research initiative, driven by an expert working group, seeks to codify the rules of IHL applicable to air and missile warfare through a contemporary reexamination and methodical restatement of existing law.
